Man suspected of DUI in 3vehicle collision on highway in Vancouver

first_imgA three-vehicle crash on state Highway 500 at Interstate 205 on Thursday night sent two people to the hospital, including a pedestrian, according to Washington State Patrol.A collision report states that 20-year-old Jose H. Montoya-Araujo lost control of his 1996 GMC Sonoma while traveling west on the highway and struck 54-year-old Kwok N. Yan’s 2016 Toyota Tundra.Then, Montoya-Araujo and a pedestrian, Lance E. Ford, 34, were standing in the right lane, outside the GMC, when a 2008 Mini Cooper traveling west on Highway 500 crashed into the truck from behind, pushing it into Ford, the report says.The crash happened at 10:37 p.m., according to the collision report.Montoya-Araujo and Ford were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for their injuries. A hospital spokesperson said both were treated and released.Yan and the driver of the Mini Cooper, Henry W. Baumgartner, 36, were not injured.Washington State Patrol reported that drugs or alcohol appear to have been a factor in the crash. Montoya-Araujo was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence, driving with a suspended license, minor in possession and speeding.Additionally, the collision report indicates Montoya-Araujo’s truck was totaled. The other two vehicles were also damaged and needed to be towed.last_img
