Couples across the Druid City are finding deals and discounts for date night through the second-annual T-Town Date Week.Restaurants like FIVE Bar, 201 Bistro, Chuck’s Fish and many more are all participating. But, Date Week is not just about going to dinner. There are discounted activities and services to do as well. Barrett Elder, Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission’s marketing and communications manager, explains what the week really stands for.“‘Date’ for Date Week is actually an acronym. D stands for diamonds, A stands for arrangements, T stands for Taste, and E stands for entertainment,” Elder said. The events include wine tastings, sushi making classes, a mixology class and even a concert at Druid City Music Hall. And, Date Week is not only for couples.“You can take your friend on a date, take your mom on a date; she would love to see you,” Elder said. “Your wife, of course, or your husband, I mean anyone you want.”Bill Lloyd, Owner of 301 Bistro, said the impact of Date Week is a great one during this time of year.“January is just traditionally the slowest time of the month, so it’s a great month to do a promotion like this,” Lloyd said. One couple said this week could not come at a better time.“I think it’s cool to spend time with your significant other and just get to experience new things,” Date Week participant John Cermak said. “We always like to try new places to eat and stuff.”For more information, check out ttowndateweek.com.last_img
